A revue featuring songs, musical items and sketches recalling the Second World War is the latest offering from CMEG – the Clenchwarton Methodist Entertainment Group.

‘Put that Light Out!’, which starts with the evacuation of children from London and ends with the celebration of VE day, is directed by Rachel Howard.

Based mainly on the ‘home front’, the show illustrates how people coped with the conditions, including the carrying of gas masks, the blackouts, rationing and air raids.

There is even a ‘spiv’ trying to sell black market items, such as petrol coupons.

The show is being staged at Clenchwarton Methodist Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Appealing to all ages, prices, including programmes and light refreshments, are £4 for adults, with concessions (including for children), £3; to book call 01553 772855.

Among those involved in the production are stage manager Graham Uttin, Joan Edwards, Caroline King and Penny Snape for wardrobe and John Manning for front-of house.

A donation will be made to the RAFA Wings Appeal.
